IL SB2488

Amends the Illinois Local Library Act to expand nonresident eligibility for free library access by allowing those who lease property taxed for library service, in addition to those who own such property.

Removes the restriction that limited free library privileges to only one nonresident per parcel of taxable property.

Allows nonresidents who own or lease taxable property to present either the most recent tax bill or a copy of the commercial lease as proof of eligibility for free library access.

Makes identical changes to the Public Library District Act of 1991 regarding nonresident fee exemptions.

Takes effect upon becoming law.
