IL SB2499

Amends the State Officials and Employees Ethics Act to require the Legislative Ethics Commission to publicly release summary reports and responses involving current or former General Assembly members regarding events during their term of office.

Requires public release within 60 days of receipt when a summary report results in suspension of at least 3 days or termination of employment.

Permits the Legislative Ethics Commission to redact information that may reveal identities of witnesses, complainants, or informants, and allows respondents, the Legislative Inspector General, and Attorney General to review documents and suggest redactions before publication.

Allows the Legislative Ethics Commission to withhold publication if the Legislative Inspector General or Attorney General certifies that release would interfere with an ongoing investigation.
