IL SB2516

Requires school personnel to complete mandated reporter training within one year of initial employment and at least every 5 years thereafter from a provider with expertise in recognizing and reporting child abuse.

Mandates that employment statements signed by newly hired mandated reporters include information about available training provided by the Department on and after January 1, 2019.

Expands the list of mandated reporters to include personnel at offices, clinics, or physical locations providing abortions, abortion referrals, or contraceptives.

Requires offices, clinics, or physical locations providing abortions, abortion referrals, or contraceptives to provide written training materials about abuse and neglect to all personnel and instruct them to report suspected child abuse.

Maintains existing provisions requiring immediate reporting of suspected child abuse or neglect to the Department and exempting attorney-client communications from reporting requirements.
