IL SB2542

Amends the School Code definition of "school psychologist" in Section 14-1.09 to accept a Nationally Certified School Psychologist (NCSP) credential as an alternative qualification.

Changes reference from "certificate" to "credential" for the NCSP qualification to align with current credentialing terminology.

Removes the requirement that school psychologists holding an NCSP credential have additional qualifications as may be required by the State Board of Education.

Maintains existing qualification pathway requiring a master's or higher degree in psychology, one year of supervised school experience, and a Professional Educator License with school psychologist endorsement.

Takes effect immediately upon becoming law.
