IL SB2576

Deletes the requirement for state employees to pay an additional amount equal to the employer's normal cost plus interest when purchasing service credit for up to 4 years of active military service under Section 14-104(j) of the Illinois Pension Code.

Applies the change only to military service credit purchased on or after the bill's effective date and does not entitle any person to a refund of contributions or interest already paid.

Excludes any benefit increase resulting from this change from the definition of "new benefit increase" under Section 14-152.1, meaning the changes are not subject to the 5-year expiration requirement for new pension benefits.

Takes effect immediately upon becoming law.
