SB2583 Summary

• Amends the Firearm Owners Identification Card Act by modifying the definition of "firearm" under 430 ILCS 65/1.1.

• Removes the exemption restrictions for pneumatic guns, spring guns, paintball guns, and B-B guns that expel a single globular projectile, eliminating the previous limits of .18 inch diameter or maximum muzzle velocity of less than 700 feet per second.

• Creates a new exemption for pneumatic guns, spring guns, paintball guns, and B-B guns that expel breakable paintballs containing washable marking colors.

• Takes effect immediately upon becoming law.
