IL SB2594

Amends the State Police Act to authorize civilian employees of the Department of State Police (who are not State police officers) to serve as truck weighing inspectors.

Grants truck weighing inspectors enforcement power over Illinois Vehicle Code provisions regarding vehicle size, weight limits, and overweight vehicle operations.

Adds Section 15-301 of the Illinois Vehicle Code to the list of provisions civilian inspectors may enforce, expanding their authority beyond previous law.

Allows inspectors to issue special permits in their discretion authorizing operation or movement of vehicles exceeding maximum size or weight limits under the Illinois Vehicle Code.
