Amends Section 3-2-5 of the Unified Code of Corrections concerning the organization of the Department of Corrections and Department of Juvenile Justice.

Makes a technical correction to the language describing the Director and Assistant Director of the Department of Corrections appointed by the Governor.

Maintains the requirement that persons under 18 years of age committed to the Department of Juvenile Justice be kept sight and sound separate from adult offenders in the Department of Corrections.

Establishes a gang intelligence unit under the Director's supervision to gather information on inmate gangs, monitor gang activities, and prevent gang operations within correctional institutions.

Designates gang intelligence information as highly confidential and exempt from Freedom of Information Act disclosure, while allowing controlled sharing with law enforcement agencies for investigations and prosecutions.
