IL SB2827

Exempts drugs prescribed to residents of long-term care facilities, community-integrated living arrangements, and supportive living facilities from the 4-prescription limit that normally requires prior approval in the Medicaid program.

Maintains existing 4-prescription limit (including 3 brand name drugs per 30-day period) for other recipients, with certain drug classes already exempt (immunosuppressant, oncolytic, anti-retroviral, and antipsychotic drugs).

Requires the Department to consider gender-based differences when determining which drugs should require prior approval.

Directs the Department to work with the Department of Public Health and Department of Human Services to identify psychotropic medications that may constitute chemical restraints or unnecessary drugs in nursing homes and developmental care facilities, requiring prior approval for such medications.

Requires providers billing for outpatient drugs who are eligible for the federal 340B Drug Pricing Program to enroll in that program to reduce costs.
