IL SB2831

Increases the voter threshold for election precincts from 500-600 voters to 1,200 voters per precinct across all counties and municipalities in Illinois.

Changes county board authority from "shall" to "may" when redividing, consolidating, or readjusting precincts to meet the 1,200 voter standard at their regular June or adjourned July meetings.

For cities with over 500,000 residents, changes the requirement to "may" (rather than "shall") rearrange precincts within 90 days of a presidential election when votes cast exceed 1,200 (previously 600).

Removes the provision allowing division of precincts with more than 600 registered voters in counties with less than 3,000,000 inhabitants.

Takes effect immediately upon becoming law.
