IL SB2848

Expands jurisdiction of park district police officers from within park properties (parks, boulevards, driveways, and controlled property) to anywhere within the boundaries of the park district.

Modifies the Park District Code (70 ILCS 1205/4-7) to allow police officers and board members to act as conservators of the peace within district boundaries rather than only on district property.

Amends the Park District Police Act (70 ILCS 1325/1) to limit police authority to park district boundaries, maintaining exceptions for fresh pursuit and intergovernmental cooperation agreements.

Retains existing requirements that park police officers complete Illinois Law Enforcement Training Standards Board certification and firearm training before carrying weapons.

Takes effect immediately upon becoming law.
