IL SB2855

Amends the School Code to restrict the State Board of Education's authority to set class size limits for general education classes serving special education students and special education classes.

Prohibits the State Board from adopting rules establishing or limiting class sizes beyond federal requirements unless the State Board fully funds the costs of additional teachers and staff required by such limitations.

Defines "special education class" as any classroom where only students with individualized education programs (IEPs) are served and at least one special education teacher provides instruction or therapy exclusively to IEP students.

Voids all existing state rules in effect as of the bill's enactment date that establish or limit class sizes for general education classes serving special education students or special education classes.
