SB2872 - Department of State Police Organization

• Reorganizes the Department of State Police into the Office of the Statewide 9-1-1 Administrator and 5 divisions (instead of 4): Division of Patrol, Division of Investigation, Division of Forensic Services, Division of Administration, and Division of Internal Investigation.

• Renames the Division of Operations to Division of Patrol and creates a new separate Division of Investigation, consolidating criminal investigation functions.

• Eliminates the Office of Coordination of Gang Prevention that was previously housed in the Division of Operations.

• Requires the Director to appoint one Deputy Director and one Assistant Deputy Director for each division, with Deputy Directors potentially ranked as Colonel and Assistant Deputy Directors as Lieutenant Colonel.

• Takes effect immediately upon becoming law.
