IL SB2900

Amends Illinois School Code Section 10-10.5 to address school board vacancies when there is a lack of candidates for election in a congressional township.

Requires school boards to submit a proposition to voters at the next general election allowing election of a board member at large without geographic residency restrictions when a vacancy is filled due to insufficient candidates in a congressional township.

The school board must order submission of the proposition by resolution, and the board secretary must certify it for submission to voters.

Applies to community unit school districts formed before January 1, 1975, combined school districts formed before July 1, 1983, and community consolidated school districts.
