IL SB2925

Amends the Illinois Police Training Act to require the Board to develop or approve a training course for school resource officers within one year of enactment.

School resource officer course must be created in consultation with organizations with expertise in youth development, educational administration, child abuse prevention, youth mental health, and juvenile advocacy.

Allows law enforcement agencies to request waivers of the training requirement for individual officers based on their prior training and experience, subject to Board approval.

Requires the Board to issue certificates to employing agencies upon officer completion of the training course or letters of approval for officers granted training waivers.
