IL SB2939

Allows the Illinois Mathematics and Science Academy to charge tuition, fees, and room and board costs to non-Illinois resident students sufficient to ensure no State appropriations fund those students' attendance.

Limits non-Illinois resident students to no more than 25% of the Academy's total student body.

Lowers the minimum academic eligibility requirement from 9th grade to 8th grade completion for Academy admission.

Requires non-Illinois resident students to pay for school books and materials, while Illinois residents receive them free.

Requires the Academy to submit documentation with its annual budget proposal to the Board of Higher Education demonstrating that non-resident students have paid and will pay costs sufficient to eliminate State appropriations for their attendance.
