IL SB2971

Expands disorderly conduct offense under 720 ILCS 5/26-1 to include making false reports or causing false reports to be made to 911 for the purpose of knowingly making a false alarm or complaint.

Establishes enhanced penalties for false 911 reports: Class 3 felony if the person knows or should know the response relates to intimidation, aggravated intimidation, computer tampering, aggravated computer tampering, identity theft, or aggravated identity theft offenses.

Establishes Class 1 felony penalty if the person knows or should know the response is likely to cause death or great bodily harm and death or great bodily harm is sustained by any person as a result of the false report.

Requires courts to order convicted persons to reimburse public agencies for reasonable costs of emergency response up to $10,000, unless the person is indigent.

Adds authorized emergency aircraft or vessel to the definition of "emergency response" in the statute.
