Child Protective Service Units must be established in each geographic region designated by the Department Director to investigate child abuse and neglect cases.

Child Protective Service Units shall designate specially trained members to serve as consultants in child sexual abuse, child deaths and injuries, and out-of-home investigations.

Child protective investigators may request assistance from local law enforcement when responding to high-risk child abuse or neglect reports and reasonably believe a subject has potential for violence.

Law enforcement officers must make reasonable efforts upon request to assist child protective investigators in obtaining assistance from other police jurisdictions outside the accompanying officers' primary jurisdiction.

The Act takes effect upon becoming law.
