IL SB3306

Requires the Department of Healthcare and Family Services to submit a Section 1115 demonstration waiver application to establish community engagement and work requirements for able-bodied adults without dependent children receiving medical assistance.

Non-exempt individuals must complete 20 hours per week (80 hours per month) of qualifying activities including volunteer work, employment, job training, or job search to remain eligible for benefits.

Exempts from work requirements: children under 19, pregnant women, primary caregivers of dependents (one per household), individuals 65 or older, medically frail individuals, and full-time students.

Individuals employed 30+ hours per week or meeting requirements under Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program or Temporary Assistance for Needy Families are deemed to meet the work requirement with no additional participation needed.

Implementation is contingent upon receipt of all necessary federal waivers or approvals; the Department may adopt rules regarding notice periods and disenrollment for false reporting of work hours.
