IL SB3502

Amends Section 3-2-5 of the Unified Code of Corrections concerning the organization of the Department of Corrections and Department of Juvenile Justice.

Makes a technical change to the language describing the Department of Corrections administration, removing a redundant reference to "and" in the section on the Director and Assistant Director.

Maintains existing provisions requiring the Department of Corrections to be administered by a Director and Assistant Director appointed by the Governor under the Civil Administrative Code of Illinois.

Preserves requirements that the Department of Juvenile Justice be administered by a Director and maintain sight and sound separation between juveniles under 18 and adult offenders.

Codifies existing provisions for a gang intelligence unit supervised by the Director to gather information on inmate gangs, monitor gang activities, and share confidential information with law enforcement agencies while maintaining Freedom of Information Act exemptions.
