IL SB3593

Amends the School Safety Drill Act to require law enforcement drills address active shooter incidents within school buildings.

Changes law enforcement drills from optional ("may") to mandatory ("must") conduct when students are present in the school building.

Requires schools to make every effort to conduct a law enforcement drill no later than 30 days after the first day of the school year.

Mandates on-site participation of local law enforcement agencies in drills, but allows schools to conduct drills without agency participation if a mutually agreeable date cannot be reached.

Requires law enforcement officials to certify completion of drills and notify schools of any deficiencies identified during the exercise.
