SB3624 Summary

• Requires State Educator Preparation and Licensure Board to immediately suspend, pending revocation, any educator license if an individual is dismissed by a school district for committing physical or sexual acts on a student.

• Mandates hearing officers in dismissal proceedings involving physical or sexual contact with students or minors to implement alternative hearing procedures (including remote testimony, non-public testimony, and admission of out-of-court statements) to protect student witnesses from intimidation or trauma.

• Provides immunity from civil liability for current or former employers and their agents who provide truthful information (or information believed in good faith to be true) about an employee's job performance, misconduct, disciplinary history, or criminal history to school districts.

• Exempts school districts from the Personnel Record Review Act requirement to delete disciplinary records over 4 years old when responding to inquiries from prospective employers.

• Permits school employers to maintain records of employee activities or associations involving physical, sexual, or other exploitation of minors, notwithstanding general restrictions on tracking employee activities and associations.
