Illinois legislature applies to Congress under Article V of the U.S. Constitution to call a convention for proposing amendments to limit congressional terms.

Convention would propose amendments to set term limits for members of the U.S. House of Representatives and U.S. Senate.

Illinois requests convention delegates be comprised equally from state and local officials or selected by election in each congressional district, with individuals who have served in federal office prohibited from serving as delegates.

This application remains in effect as a continuing application until rescinded by the Illinois legislature and shall be aggregated with other states' applications on the same subject to reach the two-thirds threshold required by Article V.

Copies of the resolution shall be sent to federal officers, members of Congress from Illinois, and presiding officers of state legislatures requesting their cooperation.
