Urges Congress to adopt a 2018 Farm Bill that supports and promotes the development of local and regional food systems in Illinois.

Recognizes growing consumer demand and farmer interest in locally and regionally-produced farm and food products as vital sources of employment and community economic development.

Identifies food-related health issues affecting Illinois communities including hunger, malnutrition, obesity, heart disease, and type 2 diabetes that can be addressed through increased access to healthy food.

States that local and regional food system development can advance environmental sustainability, economic development, public health, racial and social justice, and emergency preparedness goals.

Directs delivery of the resolution to President Trump, Congressional leadership including Senate Majority Leader McConnell, Senate Minority Leader Schumer, House Speaker Ryan, House Minority Leader Pelosi, and all Illinois Congressional Delegation members.
