An estimated 83,000 American service personnel remain classified as Missing in Action (MIA), with many never receiving proper burials or placed in unmarked graves worldwide.

The Defense POW/MIA Accounting Agency (DPAA) has a mission to recover fallen Americans and provide accounting for missing personnel to their families and the nation.

The Illinois State Senate supports the priority of bringing every fallen service member home and urges Congress to reestablish a select committee on POW/MIA affairs to investigate recovery processes.

The U.S. Senate Select Committee on POW/MIA Affairs, which operated from 1991 to 1993, produced a 1,000+ page report detailing the efforts and challenges faced in recovering those determined as POW, MIA, or Died in Captivity (DIC).

Copies of the resolution shall be delivered to the President, U.S. Congressional leaders, and all members of the Illinois Congressional Delegation.
