Opposes efforts by the Trump Administration and Congress to eliminate the state and local tax (SALT) deduction that allows families to deduct state and local income or sales taxes from federal income tax.

Nearly two million Illinois taxpayers claimed over $24 billion in SALT deductions in 2015, with an average deduction of $12,500 per taxpayer, and approximately 85% of claimants earn less than $200,000 annually.

Illinois has the fifth highest number of SALT deduction claimants in the nation and has benefited from this bipartisan deduction since 1913.

Calls upon Governor Rauner to work with the Illinois Congressional Delegation to prevent elimination of the state and local deduction.

Directs delivery of the resolution to all members of the Illinois Congressional Delegation.
