Illinois Senate expresses strong support for net neutrality principles and the Federal Communications Commission's open Internet rules adopted on February 26, 2015

Affirms three core net neutrality protections: broadband providers cannot block lawful content or devices, cannot impair or degrade lawful traffic based on content or application, and cannot favor some traffic over other traffic in exchange for payment

Recognizes broadband as essential infrastructure for economic competitiveness, education, and operation of critical systems including power grids, water supplies, emergency response, and medical facilities

Urges the President of the United States and Members of Congress to continue protecting net neutrality and open Internet access

Directs copies of the resolution be sent to the President, Vice President, Congressional leadership, and all members of the Illinois Congressional Delegation
