Declares the fourth week of April 2018 as "Illinois Distracted Driving Awareness Week" in remembrance of John M. Sligting.

Recognizes that distracted driving activities including texting, cell phone use, radio adjustment, and passenger interaction divert driver attention and cause crashes, injuries, and fatalities.

Notes that distracted driving was a factor in 3,459 motor vehicle deaths nationally in 2015.

Acknowledges partnership between the Illinois Association of Chiefs of Police, American Automobile Association, Illinois State Police, Illinois Department of Transportation, Illinois High School & College Driver Education Association, and first responders to educate residents and enforce distracted driving laws.

Directs distribution of resolution copies to partnering organizations committed to developing traffic safety culture throughout Illinois.
