Illinois Senate mourns the death of Margaret Jean (Paulsen) Young of Waukegan, who passed away on July 9, 2018.

Margaret Young was born in Manistique, Michigan in 1929 and earned degrees including a bachelor's from Northwestern University (1979) and an MBA from Lake Forest Graduate School of Management.

She served the City of Waukegan for over 20 years as Deputy Clerk and City Collector, and founded the Waukegan Women's City Club.

Margaret Young was active in community organizations including the American Business Women's Association, YWCA, Salvation Army, and various churches and social clubs in Waukegan.

She is survived by her son William, three grandchildren, four siblings, and many extended family members and friends; her husband Travis preceded her in death after 48 years of marriage.
