Illinois Senate honors Simon Weltman of Skokie, who died on July 25, 2018, at age 100.

Weltman was born in Magdeburg, Germany in 1918; his family fled to France in 1933 when the Nazis came to power, then he moved to Palestine in 1934 to help found Kibbutz Ein Gev.

Weltman served six years in the British Army during World War II, fought in Israel's War of Independence, and spent 14 years in the Israeli Air Force, retiring as a captain.

Weltman immigrated to the United States in 1963 and instilled values of adventure, honesty, integrity, and education in his children.

Senate extends condolences to Weltman's surviving family including three children, five grandchildren, two great-grandchildren, and his brother, and directs that a copy of this resolution be presented to his family.
