Sabina Ott, an artist and educator, passed away on June 28, 2018 at age 62.

She earned her BFA in painting from the San Francisco Art Institute in 1979 and her MFA in 1981, and participated in over 100 international solo and group shows beginning with her first solo exhibition in 1983.

Moved to Chicago in 2005 to lead the Art and Design Department at Columbia College, where she shifted her focus to public-centered artistic projects and became known as the "Artist Mother of Chicago."

Was recognized as a feminist activist and community builder known for connecting artists and making people feel valued through her welcoming approach and distinctive energy.

The Illinois Senate extends condolences to her surviving family: husband John M. Paulett, stepdaughter Kelly Mitchell, and granddaughter Hannah Mitchell.
