Illinois Senate mourns the death of Grady M. Chronister of Springfield, who passed away on September 14, 2018.

Chronister was an entrepreneur in the oil industry for 51 years who founded Chronister Oil, Derby Super Gas stores, Future Gas, and the first Qik-n-EZ convenience store in Illinois; he secured Illinois's first self-serve gas permit with Governor Jim Thompson as his first customer.

Served as an Elder in Westminster Presbyterian Church, former president and trustee of the Springfield YMCA, trustee of the Abraham Lincoln Boy Scout Council, and supporter of UIS athletics, the arts, and Illinois Symphony Orchestra.

Survived by his wife Linda, three daughters (Wendy, Julie, and Amy), and five grandchildren.

Senate extends condolences to Chronister's family and directs that a copy of this resolution be presented to them.
