Bernard "Bernie" Forrest of Deerfield passed away on August 21, 2018, and the Illinois Senate mourns his passing.

Served 36 years on the Deerfield Village Board and served as mayor from 1969 to 2001; Deerfield Village Hall was renamed the Bernard Forrest Deerfield Village Hall in his honor.

Had a distinguished career in the food industry, leading Golden Crown Juice and serving as president of The Long Company and owner of the Holsum Bread Company.

Founded Deerfield Family Days and the 4th of July celebration through his volunteer work with the Jaycees, which is now in its 55th year.

Survived by his wife Joan of 65 years, three sons (Kevin, Sean, and Keith), and eleven grandchildren.
