Angelo James "Al" Provenzano of Oak Park passed away on March 11, 2018; he was born February 29, 1920, in Melrose Park to Italian immigrant parents.

Served as a platoon sergeant in World War II, landing at Omaha Beach on D-Day (June 6, 1944) and leading his men across Europe; awarded the Purple Heart and five Battle Stars.

Co-owned two businesses: Tru-Pal Pet Supplies and Dan-Al Tool and Die Company.

Known for participating in parades, singing to veterans at Hines V.A. Hospital, entertaining with stories and songs, and maintaining close friendships in Oak Park.
