Margaret Elizabeth "Maggie" Johnson Martin of Watseka passed away on October 21, 2018, and the Illinois Senate honors her memory.

Born July 12, 1941, in Bay City, Michigan, Maggie earned a Master of Music in Piano Performance from the University of Michigan and was an accomplished pianist, violinist, and cellist.

Served as General Manager of WGFA Radio starting in 1989, expanding the station to 50,000 watts, and was named Chicago Businesswoman of the Year in the late 1960s.

Founded the Iroquois Arts and Education Council in the early 1980s to provide music lessons to the community and served on the Iroquois Memorial Hospital Board of Trustees and Development Council.

Survived by her husband Dick, five children, 12 grandchildren, 10 great-grandchildren, and extended family members.
