Leslie D. "Les" Wilson of South Jacksonville passed away on November 2, 2018, and the Illinois Senate expresses condolences to his family and loved ones.

Les Wilson was born April 11, 1928, in Kansas City, Missouri, graduated from Mark Keppel High School in Alhambra, California in 1948, and served in the U.S. Army from 1950 to 1952 as a truck driver in Japan and Korea.

Wilson owned a paint and wallpaper business with his wife Lois before selling it in 1975 and working for Midwest Fasteners in Orange, California until retirement in 1988.

Wilson and his wife retired to Silver City, New Mexico, where they were active in the American Legion Post 17, Honor Guard, Grant County Republican Party, and square dancing groups before moving to South Jacksonville in 2014.

Wilson is survived by his children Steve Wilson and DeeAnn Roome, six grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews; he was preceded in death by his wife Lois.
