Chicago Police Department Officer Samuel Jimenez died on November 19, 2018, killed in the line of duty while responding to gunshots near Mercy Hospital's emergency room on Chicago's South Side

Officer Jimenez graduated from Foreman High School and Northeastern Illinois University, served in the Town Hall and Wentworth districts, and earned two honorable mentions during less than two years with the department

Officer Jimenez was a devoted family man who regularly attended Mass at the Chapel of St. Joseph at the Shrine of Our Lady of Guadalupe and is survived by his wife Crystal and three children

The Illinois Senate mourns Officer Jimenez's passing and extends condolences to his family, friends, and colleagues
