Nancy J. Monroe of Morton passed away on November 22, 2018, and the Illinois Senate expresses condolences to her family and loved ones.

Monroe was born October 10, 1939, in Cadott, Wisconsin to Floyd and Bernice Hanson and was a Junior-Senior prom queen and accomplished baton twirler at San Jose High School.

She worked for the Peoria Convention and Visitors Bureau, District 150 as a library manager, Methodist Hospital as purchasing secretary, and First United Methodist Church as associate secretary.

Monroe volunteered extensively including in the Pediatric Department at Methodist Hospital, taught Sunday school, served on the Wardcliffe Homeowners Association board, and was a member of the International Order of King's Daughters and Sons.

She is survived by her husband Roger of 58 years, sons Dan and Zack Monroe, grandsons Kyle, Christopher, and Scott Monroe, and sister Marlene Blane.
