Illinois Senate mourns the death of Raymond R. "Ray" Alonzo of Silvis, who passed away on November 17, 2018.

Ray Alonzo was born May 27, 1927, graduated from East Moline High School in 1945 with varsity letters in football, basketball, and track, served in the U.S. Army during World War II, and married Teresa Castel on October 5, 1957.

Retired from John Deere in 1985 after 35 years of employment and was active in the Silvis and Quad Cities communities as a VFW Post 8890 charter member and founder of Los Amigos Jr. Drum & Bugle Corps and the Our Lady Of Guadalupe Father Pro Club.

Survived by three children (John, Tim, and Mary), seven grandchildren, 15 great-grandchildren, one great-great-granddaughter, and his sister Pat Guinn.

Senate extends sincere condolences to Ray Alonzo's family, friends, and loved ones, and directs presentation of a suitable copy of this resolution to his family.
