Robert L. "Bob" Cassens of Prophetstown passed away on December 5, 2018, and the Illinois Senate expresses condolences to his family and loved ones.

Cassens was born September 2, 1926, in Sterling, graduated from Tampico High School in 1944, and served in the United States Navy in the Pacific during World War II.

He worked in hydraulics and construction early in his career, then farmed in Loraine Township in Henry County until retirement with his wife Geraldine, whom he married on January 8, 1945.

Cassens served as Loraine Township Supervisor and on the Henry County Board during the 1960s and 1970s, and was active in the Tampico Historical Society, Farm Bureau, and First Lutheran Church in Prophetstown.

He is survived by his wife Geraldine, three children (James, Vicky, and Susan), six grandchildren, and six great-grandchildren.
