Illinois Senate expresses condolences for the death of Monte Siegrist of Taylorville, who passed away on November 28, 2018

Siegrist was born May 20, 1933, graduated from Taylorville High School in 1951, attended University of Illinois, served in the U.S. Army, and married Lucy Kuntzman in 1953

Built over half of Taylorville's housing units in the past 60 years, founded the Springfield Area Homebuilders, and received a Lifetime Achievement Award from the Chamber of Commerce

In 2005, donated an Abraham Lincoln statue to Taylorville with his wife; was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church and an Eagle Scout

Survived by his wife of 65 years, five children, 11 grandchildren, 13 great-grandchildren, and one sister; a suitable copy of the resolution will be presented to his family
