John C. Zickus passed away on June 18, 2018; he was born October 15, 1937, in Waukegan to John and Monica (Masilionas) Zickus and married Diane Murtha on January 14, 1961.

Zickus served as a union carpenter and joined the Waukegan Fire Department in 1964, serving for 26 years before retiring as a lieutenant and assistant shift commander in 1990.

He was known for his Lithuanian heritage, passion for fishing walleye at Woman Lake in Minnesota, pheasant hunting, and gardening.

Zickus is survived by his wife of 57 years, Diane; daughters Karen and Monica; three grandchildren; one great-grandchild; and various extended family members.

The Illinois Senate expresses condolences to the family and directs that a copy of this resolution be presented to them.
