Senate Resolution memorializing Brian Sleet of Chicago, who died on December 26, 2018 at age 41.

Sleet graduated from Whitney Young High School in 1996, earned a sociology degree from Dartmouth College in 2000, and a Juris Doctor from the University of Illinois in 2005.

Held positions including teacher, U.S. Census Bureau staffer, representative for former U.S. Representative Jesse Jackson Jr., attorney specializing in family law, chief of staff to Alderman Roderick Sawyer, and senior adviser at communications firm Kivvit where he served as spokesman for the Obama Foundation regarding the presidential library in Jackson Park.

Served on the board of Chicago Votes and was recognized as a political strategist known for helping candidates connect with marginalized communities and training young Black organizers and political operatives.

Illinois Senate extends condolences to Sleet's surviving fiancee Nathalie Essex, parents, brother, and extended family.
