Ralph A. Nagel of Geneva passed away on December 12, 2018, and the Illinois Senate mourns his death and extends condolences to his family.

Born April 22, 1922, in St. Charles to William and Mabel Nagel; graduated from St. Charles High School in 1940 and married Mary Ann Shewalter.

Served as an electrician's mate in the United States Navy during World War II, then worked as a milk deliverer for Oberweis Dairy and house builder.

Founded Valley Typewriter Company in Geneva in 1959 and operated it for over 40 years, selling and repairing typewriters, adding machines, copy machines, and calculators across the Chicago area.

Survived by daughter Tinya Craig, sons Jon and Rick Nagel, three grandchildren, five great-grandchildren, and multiple nieces and nephews; preceded in death by his wife Mary Ann.
