Illinois Senate mourns the death of former Wheeling Village President Judy Abruscato, who passed away on December 28, 2018

Abruscato served 29 years in Wheeling village government, including 22 years as a village trustee and service on the Zoning Board of Appeals, and was the longest-serving elected official in the village

Abruscato worked 35 years at MB Financial as Wheeling Branch Manager and Vice President, and was active in numerous community organizations including the Wheeling Rotary Club, Lioness Club, and Historical Society

Abruscato initiated community events including the Festival of Lights, Taste of Wheeling, and Fourth of July fireworks, and advocated for bulletproof vests for police officers and a building facade improvement reimbursement program

A suitable copy of the resolution shall be presented to Abruscato's family as an expression of sympathy; she is survived by her children Valerie and Tony and grandchildren Nicholas and Jackson
