HB0009 - Paid Family Leave Act

• Requires private employers with 50 or more employees to provide 6 weeks of paid family leave to eligible employees.

• Applies to employees taking leave for: (1) birth of a child and childcare; (2) adoption or foster placement of children under 18, or older children with mental or physical disabilities; or (3) care for a family member with a serious health condition.

• Paid leave must be provided regardless of the employer's existing leave policies and requires at least one year of employment with the employer.

• Employees may voluntarily waive paid family leave by returning to work early or declining the leave in writing.

• Authorizes the Department of Labor to adopt rules necessary to implement the Act.
