IL HB0305

Prohibits municipalities from expending public funds for expenses connected with conventions or gatherings of municipal personnel from 2 or more separately domiciled municipalities sponsored by a league or association.

Prohibits State agencies from expending public funds for renting or procuring booths, hospitality suites, or other physical spaces at conventions or gatherings of municipal personnel.

Exempts public safety personnel conventions, conventions relating to economic development and tourism promotion, and contracts entered into before the effective date from the restrictions.

Allows municipalities to expend public funds on convention expenses if the appropriation is in a dedicated line item listing employee/contractor names, posted on the municipality's website 30 days before the vote, and approved by a three-fifths majority of the governing body.

Takes effect immediately upon becoming law.
