IL HB1558

Amends the University of Illinois Trustees Act to modify how student trustee residency is determined, effective January 1, 2020.

Requires student trustee candidates to provide evidence of Illinois domicile for at least the previous 6 months and at least one of: a current valid Illinois driver's license or Illinois Identification Card, or valid Illinois voter registration.

Removes the previous requirement that all three forms of identification (domicile, driver's license, and voter registration) positively demonstrate residency, replacing it with a requirement for domicile plus either a driver's license/ID card OR voter registration.

Clarifies that residency determination for student trustees does not apply to residency requirements for tuition purposes.
