Amends Section 12-215 of the Illinois Vehicle Code to expand permitted use of oscillating, rotating, or flashing lights on motor vehicles by adding deputy fire chiefs and assistant fire chiefs to those authorized to use red/white lights when responding to emergencies.

Permits deputy fire chiefs and assistant fire chiefs who have completed an emergency vehicle operation training course approved by the Office of the State Fire Marshal to use emergency lights on their vehicles when designated in writing by local authorities and carrying that authorization in the vehicle.

Restricts activation of such lights to bona fide emergency responses only and requires written designation/authorization to be carried in the vehicle at all times.

Maintains existing restrictions on light use for other vehicle categories including ambulances, fire departments, law enforcement, tow trucks, and various state agency vehicles.
