HB2051 Summary

• Removes the state residency requirement for Illinois landowners to obtain free deer, turkey, and combination hunting permits if they own at least 40 acres of Illinois land and hunt only on their own property.

• Allows free permits to be issued to bona fide equity shareholders of corporations, equity members of limited liability companies, and equity partners of partnerships that own at least 40 acres in a county, limited to one permit per 40 acres (maximum 15 permits for corporations/LLCs and 3 for partnerships per county).

• Nonresidents owning at least 40 acres who hunt only on their own land shall pay a fee to be set by administrative rule.

• Landowners or partners who wish to hunt on land other than their own property must pay the standard nonresident hunting permit fee.

• Amends Section 3.1-6 of the Wildlife Code regarding special deer, turkey, and combination hunting licenses.
